On route to Periyar we stopped off at a herb and spices family home. It is where they grow them all thereself and they sell it to shops in Periyar to resell.
A kind lady took us around the gardens. We saw many spices and herbs. We saw a giant lemon, which I didn’t believe they could grow so big! We also saw the coco bean and how they made it into chocolate, shampoo etc! Was all very interesting.
It took about 4 hours in total to reach our hotel Michaels Inn. We arrived and they had a buffet of food ready for us, it was delicious!
Me and Emmanuel settled into our rooms and then went out to explore the area. There wasn’t that much to see in Periyar a part from tourist shops. I think we looked in every possible shop!
We then came back to the hotel to meet the others before departing to a local martial arts show called kalaripayattu. It was such an interesting show! There were many men showing different types of fighting, with and without weapons. They then used fire to jump through! Was pretty impressive.
After this we walked back to the hotel to meet Margaret and Martin and we all went for dinner in a loca hotel. The food was really good, I had the typical palak Paneer and nann.
It then chucked it with rain on our way back and we all got thoroughly drenched!
