We left Jaipur early and got a train to Agra which took roughly 5 hours. It was the best train I had been on so far, it was an express train. You get given food throughout the journey which didn’t taste too bad. Although I did leave the curry as I didn’t want a bad tummy that early in the morning!
We finally arrived in Agra and went straight to our hotel, Amaryatri Niwas. Very comfortable hotel with nice rooms. We had a short time to freshen up before making our way to the famous Taj Mahal.
So we finally arrived at one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We had a guided tour of India's most famous
landmark and an icon of Mughal architecture. Our tour guide explained that it was Built by the emperor Shah Jehan as a testament of his love to his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, this stunning white marble structure draws visitors from all over the world.
We also learnt that all the trees and plants are shorter than an average person so it makes him feel superior. It is also a symmetrical fort with his loves tomb right in the middle of the Taj. It then became unsymmetrical when he wanted to be hurried beside her.
It was an amazing building and so full of tourists trying to get a creative picture. We had three hours to explore the taj. The inside was not as spectacular as I thought it would be, it was dark but very engraved in lovely patterns and the tomb lay in the middle. It was very pushy inside as they wanted you to walk round as quick as possible. We then had time to take a lot of pictures.
After the taj, we went to a very nice restaurant which was a rooftop with fairy lights. It was very relaxed and I had a palak Paneer which was delicious!
