Today we all got a lie in and then went for lunch at an amazing place in Agra called Sheroes. It was a cafe that was run by women acid attack survivors. It was ever so sad, most of the women had been attacked by family members. Some stories was because one lady gave birth to a girl and another was by her own mother and one by an abusive husband. They set up this charity so that they had a community where they could all blossom and be happy!
The food was good here and we also watched a film which showed us there stories and how the organisation had been put together. The menu did not have any prices on. It was a donation place and worked really well.
After this we all split up and did different things. Lindsey, Becky, Harriet and I first went to the baby Taj. This was a beautiful little building where the tourists named it the baby Taj. It was a great place and not that busy, it was set on the side of an empty river! It was sad because when you looked over the edge of the river, there were a lot of homeless kids begging and dogs running around.
We then went to the Agra Fort. This was a pretty impressive fort, it was a mix of red stone and marble which the king of the Taj put in eventually. It was huge and we had a lot of people following us around asking for pictures.
After the fort we went back as we were suppose to leave for our train in the evening. We all went out for a Pizza Hut near by which was really tasty, even though the margaritas were very strange as they were cheese and no tomato sauce. At 7pm every day they do an Indian Pizza dance. It was the most random thing I had ever seen, they all lined up and danced around the place. Also when we left we had to ring a bell to say that we were happy with our service. It was funny as there was 12 of us and after every ring they would say thank you.
We arrived back at the hotel to the news that our train to Veranassi was 12 hours late and hadn’t left it’s destination. We didn’t have rooms anymore as the plan was to leave at 8pm. Girri rang up Gadventures and they offered to pay for 4 rooms between 16 of us. Was quite a squish but we all managed to fit 5 in one double room. We then left early that morning!
