Ventured into RMNP, soooo beautiful!! Followed trail ridge road, which takes you 48 miles thru the park if you follow it all the way. We went about half way which led us on twisty, winding roads past vistas, each more stunning than the previous, past the tree line, kept short by the 100 mph winter winds, up to the tundra where the elk and big horn sheep play!( not today though). We left Utah, with sadness in our hearts, well, mine anyways!! On to Colorado and RMNP!! The temperature was creeping back up to the 100's as we rolled along the dusty desert highway! There was not much color in the hills until we started getting closer to Colorado and started climbing the mt roads. What a wonderful, adventurous day! We drove 20 miles into Mesa verde NP, along winding roads, on the edge of steep cliffs making our way to the top of the mesas. We visited the museum, toured the balcony house dwelling, which had us climbing a 32 foot ladder up to the cliff dwelling, squeezing through a tunnel, exploring the dwelling, then squeezing through another tunnel and climbing up 2 15 ft ladders back to the top of the Mesa!! We headed west from the great sand dunes, but our first stop was a new mattress!! Some how my side of the sleep # bed popped!!, we couldn't fix it, had to replace it, stopped at a mattress store bfor we left town!!
