We left Kial early friday morning and had to say many goodbyes at both humans and animals, it was really sad to leave as we had such a wonderful time over the past three weeks and the place started to feel like home!
We spent the morning at Rocky Zoo and had a good look round at all the animals that Tina, Pete and Ryan had told us about. Pete even took us behind the scenes to the Wombat research centre, it ws really surprising to see how big they got and I (Zoe) was so pleased to get to see them as I had fell in love with Wiggles! Afterwards we had a good look round the beautiful Botanical Gardens.
At 3pm we got on our bus which took us to Kroombit Cattle Station, it was again in the middle of nowhere. That night we had dinner and had a talk from the man who owned the cattle station which he informed us was 10,000 acres in total!!! The evenings events consisted of learning to crack a whip and the mechanical bull. Michelle and I didn't last very long as we were so knackered from the last three weeks.
In the morning we had breakfast and then went riding. The guy gave us a quick demo on a horse called Rusty (who I thought was really nice) there were 21 people riding in total and I got to ride Rusty. Michelle has a trend going on with the horse riding and ended up with another horse named after one of her guinea-pigs, this time she rode peanut! The ride was excellent as we went up into the mountains and had to round up over 250 goats! There was so many of us but so many goats and we had to shout 'ay up up up' to help get them moving.
After the riding we watched some of the people having a go at shooting a shotgun before we split into teams of three for a goat rodeo. They gave us a quick example of how its done (which looked pretty easy) and I volunteered myself for chasing the goat, Michelle had to lift it and Mandy had to pretend to brand it. To my surprise they took away the nice easy goat and brought out a wild one Arghhhh! We watched a few of the other teams have ago and then our team named 'The Hill Billy Goats!" went in. It was so funny to see me trying to tackle and pull this goat and Michelle attempt to lift it! We came 5th out of 9 teams which wasnt to bad considering we were one of the only all girl teams!
We left Kroombit at around 11am and are now in Hervey bay, ready to go to Fraser Island tomorrow. We Had a nice meal last night as it was our first night back in real civislation and have spent most of today so far updating you all.
Hope to update you again soon.
