Different sort of day today.
We headed out to the Cradle of Humankind, and Sterkfontein caves. I found this to be more thought provoking than yesterday's museum trips. You can't help but get this feeling of insignificance when seeing how human beings have only been around for such a short time.
Loads to see around here, including heading down into the caves. The whole area has been dubbed the 'Cradle of Humankind' as some of the oldest Hominid fossils ever found have come from around here. Including the 2.3million year old Mrs Ples, Australopithecus Africanus.

Oddly enough, some of the information we read on entering the Maropeng exhbit, cited Wikipedia as source?!
Maropeng, is an exhibit set up in the Cradle, that walks you through man's evolution, and shows some of the other hominids that have long since died out. Fascinating stuff!
As far as the non touristy stuff goes, it's been a pretty laid back week. Hot sunshine in the high 20s, no rain, no humidity. Just lovely. The next few days we're going to continue wondering around the area, as we'll be heading off on Thursday to get further afield. More details to follow.
As for photos, they take quite some time to upload on the connection out here, but I'll try to get some more up in the next few days.

Mum Interesting about the museum of the Cradle of Humankind. I found a video of it on Wikipedia, so know a little about what you saw. What I saw, years ago, was a shallow cave with rock paintings in a high hill above a dirt road in the bush. It was a dry and dusty area that was a bit too quiet and still, but a distant baboon barked now and then. This may have been Bolt's farm, a name I found on the Wikipedia site, and which seemed familiar. Can you enlighten me? It's great to be in on your adventure in this way, as I can have more tea breaks than you explorers. Love and hugs xx
