So - here we are in Alice Springs

The story so far: we booked a tour through STA Travel in Johannesburg, to take us from Alice Springs down to Adelaide. The short story is STA cocked up (not the first time I understand) and booked us onto a full tour. Not good. So we have re-booked by ourselves to go with a different company, but a day later then intended. Not the end of the world - I just hope STA sort out the refund.

Anyway, today was lazy day, as it's so damn hot here. At least 40deg C. So, we headed off to the Desert Park to see some animals, and find out more about the desert.

Turns out, that the Red Centre has had record rainfall, and everywhere is green. Still, it's something that only happens once every 20 years or so, so we should be chuffed to see it like this.

After a fun day looking at lizards and stuff, it's back to the hostel to get ready to start our tour in the early morning.
