We arrived early in the morning after a 9 hour night bus and found a great hostal on the plaza.
After a quick nap we headed out and checked out the town which was nice. We went and had one of the best coffees we've had yet and breakfast at cafe called Fusiones We booked a day tour for the next day to the ruins Kuelap.
It was about 3 hours on a rough and very narrow road away. Kuelap was interesting and only opened to tourist about 5 years ago. There was heaps of work going on there excavatiing and finding new bones as well as some restoration. Well they called it restoring but it looked like they were rebuilding which was a bit of a shame. Our tour guide was a local and very passionate about it. He told us in a couple of years it was going to be bigger than Machu Picchu. I guess we see...
At night we just chilled out in town and got ready for an early bus to Cajamarca which was going to take all day.
