After a 3 hour bus trip and half hour boat trip we arrived at Boca islands. We weren't sure if the town would be busy as it was Easter Sunday. We thought we would give one of the popular hostels a go anyway and it was sweet as everyone had checked out that day. The hostel bar just happened to have 50c beer happy hour every night so it was the place to go.
The first day we had there we just chilled out around the island and then headed over to another small island which has a great bar/hostel called Aqua Lounge. They have swings and a tramp that you can jump off into the water. It was a great place to spend the arvo.
At night we had pizza 3 nights in a row, shocking I know.
The next day the hostel hired a boat and we went on a cruise to a beach at the top of the island.
The next day we hired a boat and guide with a few of our mates. Our guide first took us to some little island were we had lunch and then we went to supposedly the nicest island where we did some snorkeling. It was good but I must say it was not the nicest island. After we went to another island called Red Frog Beach which was awesome. As soon as we got off the boat we saw this sloth hanging from this branch he was so close to us we could touch him. This was the first time we had ever seen a sloth so it was very exciting. From the main entrance onto this island we had to catch a truck to the beach side where some little kids jumped on the truck with us and showed us the red poison dart frog. It was tiny, but then of course they wanted money for it. This beach was beautiful we ended up going back the next day for the day. When visiting Red Frog Island we saw this local guy selling crayfish so we ended up buying all (6) for $20. We cooked up an awesome feed that night for the group who most had not tried Crays before. It was a beautiful seafood dinner.
We also hired bikes one day and rode out this this other beach which had been recommended to us. It was about a 40min ride along the sea front. On the way back though Juniors chain broke so he had to catch a taxi back while Mark and I rode back. It was a bit of a b***** though cause we were going to do a pub crawl on the way home. We ended up cooking anther amazing fish and prawns dinner that night and again it was a beautiful dinner.
