The collectivo was only 1 hour from Tulum and once dropped of we
walked around for a bit trying to find a cheap hotel. We found a great place,
Hotel Colorado which was only $23 a night pretty good for this area.
The basketball was on so we walked around town and found a great
little sports bar. A guy working at the bar had lived in New Zealand for a year
earlier so he loved chatting with Junior about it. We ended up at the bar all
night long drinking Corona and Tequila´s with Jasso, Lauren and his brother Alejandro.
The next day they had the day off work so they picked us up and we went out to this beautiful cenote where we could jump off the top of the cliff and swim through underwater caves which was a little scary but we loved it. After the cenote we drove to Akumal a beach resort area and set up on the beach and went snorkeling. About 20m from the shore there were about 20 sea turtles in really shallow water. It was awesome they were everywhere. You'd be watching one feed then you'd look behind you and see two more and a few sting rays. It was great. After we went back to the hotel and had a bit of a nana nap then caught up with the Dave and Juanita who had just got in to town as well. Later that night we caught up with the others and went to a Tequila bar. I've never had so much Tequila in one night. Needless to say the next day we were feeling a bit worse for wear. Thanks Jasso!
The next day it again was crappy weather so it was time to move on and hope the weather was nicer further north. So we caught a 1 hour bus to Cancun and then a 15min ferry to Isla Mujeres.
