We arrived late Friday night after a mission. We took a bus to the ferry then a bus to a main intersection where from there we caught another bus to a town close to Tamarindo where we were going to stay but accommodation was expensive so we ended up getting a taxi to Tamarindo for $30 between 4. Found a great hostel, The Black Sheep which was $12 a night each with the 4 of us in our own room. Big change from Mal Pais, the Americans have come through and made it very American and built up. We chilled at the beach the next day for Colorados' (Bens') birthday in the arvo we played pool at the hostel. At 9pm it was ladies night at one of the pubs so I went with this chick Anna. It was females drink for free. This is a very popular event at pubs in Central America it seems like females can go out every night and get free drinks. 11pm the free drinks stopped so we headed to another bar The Beach Club where we bumped into the boys. I think by midnight I was on my way home and then Junior was not far behind me.
On the Monday we had arranged to do a dive at the Santa Catalina Islands. It was an early start with a 6.45am pick up. We cruised out to the dive spot which was only about half hour off shore. Once we were ready it was time to hit the water. The first dive was great seeing octopuses, white tip sharks, massive fish of some type and crayfish. Heaps of other little things but these were our favourites. After our first tank they drove the boat around to another spot. While we were waiting for our gear to be set up we had a light snack and watched rays jumping out of the water doing flips. It was quite spectacular. The second dive was not as good as the first as we didn't see much. We got back to hostel at about 1.30pm had subway for lunch and then a quick siesta. We were going to go deep sea fishing the next day but it ended up been to expensive so we just chilled on the beach again. The next day it was time to move on.
