We took a 16 hour night bus to Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast. The bus wasn't too bad and pretty cheap at $77,000 Pesos. Had some random guy jump on selling necklaces and other trinkets. Ended up buying a necklace and a Colombian flag wristband for a couple of bucks.
Landed in Santa Marta and then looked for a taxi to Taganga ($8000 cop) a tiny diving village only 15 mins from Santa Marta.
Finally in Taganga and its a nice beach town we checked in Casa De Felipe which was nice but a little bit out of town and I think only busy cause its in the LP..
We sussed out town and Junior found a diving company he wanted to go through.
Junior started diving today and I just got to chill out and check out the town more. Also suss out tours to the Lost City and what else there was to do around town. We changed hostels today to Oso Perezoso much smaller place but a way better place to meet people and only $44,000 cop a night for our own room and an awesome breakfast. Met Liz and Elliot from Toronto had a nice meal out with them at night and ended at the night club Sensation which plays constant reggaton at full noise.
We went into Santa Marta today to get cash out as the only cash machine in Taganga never works. Santa Marta was busy busy so it was a quick visit.
Met Jenna and Steve from Perth at the hostel they had just completed there 6 months around Colombia so it was great to chat with them and suss out what to do and what not to do. Chilled out on the balcony all arvo over looking Taganga.
Junior and I went out diving together which was good fun apart from me getting motion sickness as soon as the boat stopped. Did 2 dives it was really nice but visability was not the best. We did see quite a few cool fish and some moray eels. Didnt get to see the turtle Junior saw the day before though.
Had a massive night out with the people from the hostel to celebrate the end of Juniors course. Spent most of the next day in bed until the town power went out and the fans went off!
