After a day in Hervey Bay of walking for over 6 hours into town and back to find nothing there was quite dissapointing! Headed off to Fraser Island on sunday 20th for a two day trip!
Day 1- Got the ferry over to the island and went staright into 4WD mode over the island in a massive bus-was great fun! stopped off for a short rainforest walk and then headed for the east side of the island to the 65 mile beach for some lunch at Happy Valley. Then moved on the Lake Wabby were we had to walk over a moving sand dune to get there. Next stop was the Maheno shipwreck and to the coloured sands. Ended the night at cathedral beach were we spent the night in 5star rated tents and had a wander down to the beach!!!
Day 2- First stop todayw as the Champagne pools which are north of the island were natural rock pools are created by waves from the sea. Our bus got bogged down right into the sand-quite funny, he managed to get pulled out by a jeep,lol......which then got stuck, haha. Then moved down south to indian head were we were able to see whales and the coast line of the beach! Had lunch at cathedral beach were we saw a beautiful kookaburra and then drove down to Eli Creek which is the largets creek on the east coast of the island and had a wander up!! :) Finished up in Lake Garrawanga which had a low pH level, quite cold but still nice, ad a game of frizbee with friends and then headed back to moon point to catch the ferry home. A couple of friends we had made were driving to Brisbane that night so we catched a lift otherwise we wud of had to wait untill 1:30am to get the bus! arrived at Brisbane and checked into a hostel called Yellow Submarine, it was horrible, fank god we were only there for 1 night!!
