Here comes a geeky sentence....
Hoi An is a very graceful and historic town with beautiful architecture along either side of the river.
It is my recommendation that this is a must see destination in Vietnam.
We stayed at the Sunshine Hotel just outside the centre which was really good value for money with its big rooms, restaurant, spa and pool. Felt like 5* luxury to us after dorms in hostels!
That night we had a dip in the pool and went out to the town. It took us about 30mins to walk to the restaurant we had picked called morning glory which serves posh traditional street food in an old building overlooking the main street. The food was delicious! We had a starter and main and by the end we were all so full we just wanted to go back to bed haha.
The next day we spent the day on the beach. You could get sun beds free if you ate in their restaurant. Natalie and Kirstie got a whole coconut and it was gone in 2 minutes. We watched fishermen go out on the their boats which were made of strong bamboo I think and were shaped like a cereal bowl. Watching 7 guys in one, tackle the waves kept us entertained. Guess who we saw chilling on the beach as well..... My family from the ha long bay cruise..... Crazy!
We headed back to the hotel and got some spa treatments from pedicures to full body massages to mud wraps. Natalie had a funny experience but I best not share it on here guys, sorry ;)
Then it was time for a big night out and that it was. Ended up in argument with the baguette guy when he stole 500.000 dong off me. Luckily this military guy from Australia got it back for me. Wandered the streets for a while trying to get a taxi home and the sun came up!
This morning we were pretty tired, but we had booked on a tour to see the My Son ruins and we had to walk around in the blazing sunshine for hours, so I bought a conical hat. It looked stupid and they were laughing at me but it did the trick.
Time to catch our flight to Ho Chi Minh City
Xoxo
