Where to start.... our time in Acapulco is coming to an end so i thought it best to update you with our adventures so far and boy we are having some.
Well we made it to Acapulco navigating our way through the bus station using our universal language 'hand signals' these came is useful again asking for directions to our Hostel. As true travellers we decided to walk the 1.5miles in our jeans in 35 degree heat just to save the 1pound taxi fare or worse the 25p local bus fare!!! Every penny counts now!
Arriving at our Hostel was a relief, it looked brilliant from the outside and we only had to cross the road to the beach and everywhere bars&night clubs :)! Our room resembled a prison cell (i can only assume i dont know this from experience i promise mum,LOL), barely fitting the 4 bunk beds but in a way it was great. Luckliy we didnt have to share our room with anyone so we did spread out a bit. However nothing was going to stop our smiles, we had found the sunshine and spent the first night chilling out on our balcony with our first SOL (75p a bottle, sweet), taking in the atmosphere. Loads and loads of white VW beatles which our the loacal taxis whizzing up and town the streets, horns honking at every moment sure sometimes just for fun!
Day two and we woke early excited to explore our new found sunny location, bikini's check, flipflops check, sunglasses check, sunscreen nooooooooooooo found what we forgot!!! Oh well it cant be that hot its nearly there winter. We head off to the beach and dipped our toes into the ocean and oh my god it was beautiful so warm. Realising how luck we were we just ran into the sea and just appriciated all the hard work that had gone into getting us here!
We walked for miles exploring all parts of the beach, watching locals searching the sea bed for shells, watching the beach sellers and all the holiday makers (this weekend is a bank holiday weekend for Mexicans so it is very busy here). At one point we were watching the extremely powerful waves, with very strong currents and saw a hugh stingray jump out of the water right in the break.....now correct but these are dangerous????think we may stay out of the water for the rest of the day seen a few washed up puffer fish too, so sea does appear to be the deadliest place for us to be at the moment. Lesson learnt today ..................... wear sunscreen!!! Looking a little like lobsters today, we have got some oil now but for all we know it could just be cooking oil!
Back at the hostel we met this guy called David from NZ, who was interested in joining us in watching the cliff divers. We hailed down the local bus, which is nothing like home. They pick you up from anywhere on the street, inside is undescribable. They have massive speakers, music blaring some have neon lights it like its a party bus, they are so wicked! Watching the cliff divers we decided to be a little adventurous and got some street food from a lady who looked like she had a make shift cooking stall going on, no idea what was in the tacos but not meat so didnt need to worry what animal. Cliff divers were impressive and take your hat off for guts but show a little disappointing but hey we had done it the locals way and it cost us nothing.
Really getting into the Mexican food now, even know what im ordering and eating. Favourite dish "tacos el pasdco" not sure if its spelt right! 5 Tacos filled with i think pork, onion & pineapple, add some lemon(this is lime but Mexicans call them lemons!!) and some mild chilli and your taco is read to devavour!! All this for 1pound.
Met some Aussie guys and decided to head out into town with them, we went to Disco Bar which was brilliant. 10pounds enter for an open bar who could complain. Right on the beach so dancing on the sand listening to waves in one ear and RnB in the other. Mexicans trying to teach us to salsa, which is now on my list to learn before i leave.
Spent the day today just chilling out at the beach, contemplating are hardest decision,do we stay another night, follow the crowd in our opposite direction or move on and if so where. Man life is hard,LOL!!
Watching the sunset over Acapulco tonight seeing the night sky fade from light to dark through a number of yellows, oranges and reds we made our decision.....we will stay another night and head North on Tuesday follow our plan.
This now brings you all upto date with our travels,im sure there are things i have missed and i am trying hard to give you a full picture of everything we do.
Its goodbye for now and will try again to upload some pictures.
