I will just summarise the whole trip to Wien as it was an interesting weekend.
First night- meet up with everyone and had dinner in this Italian. There was probably about 40of us and the waiters were getting incredibaly stressed but they gave water to the dogs and the waiter kept on sneaking out ham for the dogs to eat so they were happy.
The majority of people were staying in the same hotel so we parked round the back to stay. Food, wine, beer, me, Stu his dad and 2 dogs with 25degree heat at night does not work out to be a good night sleep. With all the moving, farting getting up for the toilet and to top it all off sone silly boy racers going up and down the road I think I slept for about 2 hours.
Day 1- got up straight to campsite. Brilliant. Got Trevor a push bike had brecky went to park. Stu judging work climb a lot of waiting around and then back to same Italian with everyone for dinner. It was about a 30 min cycle ride and with about 5 mind to go Stu pulled a wheely kept on going an with an almighy thud landed on his ass barely missing the dog. Sore and stiff got up and we headed on. It was a lovely warm evening so Trevor stayed outside.
Day 2- Stu got up early and left, me and Trevor casually headed down at a reasonable time. This time Trevor didn't sleep well as the mossquitos were eating him alive. Prelims were underway. Yet another long day and unfortunately the UK team just weren't feeling it not nearly doing as well as they could so dissappointment all round. Just as the last climbers finished the heavens opened and the rain started.
Stu took the dogs back and we cycled to the party in the terential rain the eat all you can buffet was not worth the complete soaking but luckily some climber had formed a band and were playing. The treemagicbeers. They were extremely amusing and as the alcohol was flow the dancing got crazier. Stu was crowd surfing along with a few others and the head banging and moshing got heavier.
The English crowd left pretty early so
We decided we might as well leave too. We cycled back all in one piece this time.
Day 3- due to a few judging disagreements Stu luckily opted out of doing the Masters which meant we had a bit of a lie in. Had our last breakfast with Trevor before sadly saying good bye. we walked to the park to see what was happening. Watched the masters hung around for the prize giving. We found out that at the party someone who was in the crowd had a disco ball dropped on their head and later was helicoptered to hospital as he stopped breathing so that was all a bit shocking news.
We then walked to the hotel to meet everyone for our last dinner together. We waited as people started to arrive and just as the last few were slightly late everyone left. We stayed and waited for the last people and then headed into Wien. Jon and Katy very kindly told us where they were and checked they took dogs but it was so busy there wasn't really enough room so we left and went to the place opposite and had a very civilised dinner which turned out to be extremely funny but it was a shame we missed everyone as we probably won't see them for a long time.
Day 4- we meet up with the remaining people before they had to leave for the airport and then we walk round and saw the sights. It's a very pretty city with it's cathedral and many old buildings.
It was sad to see everyone go
