Atherton Tablelands and Cape Tribulation
Monday 22nd December found us in the Atherton tablelands above Cairns. We had a cream tea in the mountain town of Milla Milla so good they named it twice. We stopped near the big fish and went to Tarzali lakes where theres a concentrated amount of wild platypus and we seen about 5 different ones swimming around was really cool to see them after the previous 2 no shows. Finally we stopped in Port Douglas and checked in at the campsite. We had a bite to eat at a local restaurant before it started to rain like we had never seen before the road through the campsite was just like a river.
Another wicked day of adventure on Tuesday 23rd December which started with a swim in the nearby Mossman Gorge, which is thankfully croc free and was like heaven in the humid conditions. We then went on a crocodile cruise up the Daintree river and seen a few wild crocs, a tawny frogmouth, tree frogs, mud crabs and a tree snake. We then drove up to cape tribulation which had some amazing scenery before we checked into the campsite in Cairns ready for Christmas!
