So we woke and with no success on getting the guys at travels autobarn we filled the car and headed for ‘The Alice’ the craziest town in the outback. There were so many aborigines around not doing very much except talking in small groups. We had a look around the Todd Mall in a few off the shops getting a coffee and crossing the Dry Todd River (flows about 2/3 days a year) on the way to the Royal Flying Doctor Service centre. We took the short tour, video and talk which helps keep them in the air and replaces there planes before looking around the small museum (Wolfie now knows what he wants to be when he grows up).
Afterwards we went to the Alice Springs reptile centre which was well cool they hand some many funky animals, a gecko cave and Frank the Goanna who was aloud to freely wander the centre but choose to sit next to the warm window. Outside was terry the saltie and loads of other cool things like a pair of perenties and THORNY DEVILS. There was also a talk were we got to hold a bluetounge, shingleback and a crazy bearded dragon (all lizards) as well as a snake called Zeus.
Thursday 10th was a pain in the bum day the car getting worse no better was dropped of at a local garage for fixing so we booked into a budget cabin and spent the afternoon and evening having a party.
Friday came with the Alice Springs Christmas fair and market so after a day lazing around, we had a look and took in the Christmas spirit in the red centre and watched the Christmas lights on the tree being switched on. Saturday 12th followed pretty much the same flow with a day lazing around the campsite saving the pennies and checking on were the car was up to but still no look.
We sunbathed around the pool on Sunday and went to the Famous Bojangles bar and had our dinner and a couple of drinks there. Wolfie had the famous 800g steak and polished the lot off and then Corinne had the nut coated Barramundi a top end fish that’s really good. We then had a walk up the top of ANZAC hill to watch the sunset over the McDonnell ranges. Finally after some mis-information that there was a demolition derby that night we ended up at the movies watching new moon!
Monday 14th came and went with still no car and not very good communication from travellers autobarn seems like the fleet manager is trying to avoid us! Not very happy with them! Finally on Tuesday we got the car back and much heated discussion with travellers autobarn over compensation WE NOT BACKING DOWN!!! Oh and we went to the Olive Pink botanical gardens and packed the car up ready for a rushed 9 days till xmas and so much to see (and a lot that we have had miss out because of the last 8 days).
