I had to leave around 9:30 am to get to the airport, since my flight leaving Bangkok heading to Koh Samui was departing at 12:05. The group agreed to meet for breakfast around 9 am, so they could eat and I could say my goodbyes. I was the only one leaving, Mark, Corina, and Laura were planning on leaving the following day and Rachel and Rhiannon were staying in Bangkok for another week. Around 9:30, I was trying to leave; however, the tour guide that was training decided to have a lenghty conversation with us and would not stop talking.. I finally managed to get my way out of the hotel around 9:50, slightly worried that I was going to be late for my flight.
I arrived with time to spare at the airport, but I had no idea where I was going and had to ask a couple of staff members until I finally understood them.
I arrived at Koh Samui at 1:30 pm and their airport looks like a typical island airport. It was tiny and filled with flowers and was open. I got a shuttle bus to the hotel for 130 THB. The Saraan resort was nice, but I got stuck in a room at the every end of the resort - about a 5 minute walk from the reception area. The resort backed out into the Chaweng Beach and although the resort sat where there were a lot of boulders, you could walk a few minutes and be directly on the beach.
It was apparent that the resort mainly saw couples, since both reception and the luggage man asked me if I was expecting anyone.
I will be staying there for 3 nights, and plan to not do a heck of a lot. The beach front is quite pretty though.
