It has been an enjoyable, relaxing three nights at the Saraan resort, but now it is time for me to check out and head off to Chiang Mai, where my next G-Adventures Hilltribe hike is starting on June 1st.
I didn't go very much during my time on the island, but I did relax and sit by the beach.. I also got burnt.. once again.. ah.
The first night at the resort, I noticed that the water was turned off around 7 pm but didn't think much of it. Then later that night all of the power went off and on for four times, then went back to normal. The rest of the nights that never occurred. The resort also had a good selection when it came to breakfast food. They offered brown bread and brie cheese. I did eat at the restaurant one night but the dinner food was just average at best.
The flight from Koh Samui to Chiang Mai was set to depart at 10:00 am, so I had to leave the resort around 8:30 am. The washrooms at the airport were interesting, there was a huge fish tank infront of the toliets in one of the washrooms.
Once I arrived at Chiang Mai, I took a metered taxi to the hotel. It cost about 150 THB. The hotel was ok, it smelled strongly of smoke and mold. I got a wifi code for 24 hours but after trying to watch a movie on youtube, I discovered that the code also had a usage amount and the video used all of it. So I was out of wifi.
I then decided to go down the street to look for the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel, which is where I was supposed to meet the next tour group. When I booked the Hotel M Chiang Mai, I thought that the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel was next door, unfortunately that wasn't the case. So I stopped off at a cafe and had a late lunch and tried to figure out where my next hotel was located. Discovered that the next hotel was a 6 minute drive or a 14 minute walk.. which wasn't horrible. I just went back to the room and ended up watching Miss Potter.
