Woke up at 4:10 this morning, quickly showered and got ready. Our group met in the hotel lobby at 5 am to go feed the monks. We walked for about 20 minutes and purchased a food combination that consisted of sticky rice and a plate of crackers and fruit. Elephants! The day finally arrived for us to go visit the elephants. We got picked up at 9 am from the hotel and drove an hour to the elephant sanctuary in Luang Prabang. Once we arrived, we were greated by a lady (Paulina) who used to work for G-Adventures but now is in charge of the sanctuary. They currently have nine elephants, including a baby. All of the elephants are female and used to be working elephants that weren't treated well by their previous owners...

Said goodbye to Vang Vieng early in the morning, as we boarded a tiny private van to head to Luang Prabang. The drive took us 6 hours, but we stopped every two hours to have a break and grab some food. This morning we got picked up from the hotel at 9 am by Wonderful Tours and we travelled to Tham Xang which is known for its elephant cave. We got a chance to look inside the elephant cave and understood why it got its name; almost all formations in the cave have a resemblance to an elephant. We went for a bike ride around Vientiane starting around 9 in the morning until 12 pm. Stopping off at some temples to see some Buddhas, lots of Buddhas (photos are coming). It was ridiculously hot outside and I forgot to put sunscreen on, so my arms got pretty badly burnt.
