We arrived in Bangkok around 7 am in the morning and headed directly to our hotel. We managed to get keys to our room but we were all tired and hungry, so we decided to go out for breakfast before showering. Just as soon as we were going to leave the hotel and make our way to the restaurant, there was a down pour. So we decided to hold off and see if the rain would clear up at all. Eventually it did and we headed off for food.
After breakfast, we got ready and Rhiannon, Rachel, and I decided to go to the BMK mall to get a mani and pedi. Corina and Laura went to the grand palace, and Mark slept. The mall was huge, it had 6 floors and had basically everything and anything in it. I will probably go back there on the last day before I fly home to buy some cheap merchandise.. so if you want anything let me know!
We finally found a place to get our nails done and managed to get a discount for all three of us as well. It was the first time for me getting a pedicure and it was a bit gross and odd. They shave off the dead skin cells from our foot, so it feels like a cheese grater on your foot and you can see the skin fall off. It was nasty, I tried not to look at it. But my feet are finally nice and smooth! Ha.
Once we were done, we did a bit of shopping and I picked up a bathing suit. Then it was time for us to head back to the hotel. We were able to have a nap and then had to start getting ready, as we wanted to go for dinner around 5pm since there was the 10pm curfew. Dinner was average, but I ordered a drink and it never came. And I ordered green curry again.
After dinner we walked through khao san road and I ended up buying two bracelets and like 7 tank tops. The tank tops are a bit ridiculous though.. one has a cat on it, another a mouse, then I got a "same same but different", a 7/11 shirt, and some beer shirts. All of them were around 100 BHT, so roughly $3. But they are funny, so I will probably end up buying more and bringing them back home with me.
Rhiannon and I stopped off at a restaurant/bar after shopping and we got a bucket of blue lagoon, then we headed off to another bar where the rest of the group was. We ended up staying at that bar until closing time and there was a live singer there performing songs. We ended up ordering two more buckets of blue lagoon. Then it was time for us to go. We were wanting to try scorpion but apparently all of the people selling it were no where to be found. Earlier in the night, there were probably 10 people selling scorpion on a stick... so will have to wait until I am in Bangkok next to try it.
The group spilt up, half of us took a tuk tuk back to the hotel, while the other half took a taxi. I ended up taking the taxi and we paid 55 BTH, the people in the tuk tuk ended up having to pay 135 BTH for their trip; so they got ripped off.
Rhiannon and I ran over to 7/11 to get some snack food and then we all stayed up in the hotel lobby talking for a bit until it was time for bed. This was our final night together so it was a bit sad but it was a good night.
