Day 26. Walt Disney World - Animal Kingdom. Both us us awoke rather jaded from yesterday's epic day at Magic Kingdom so we opted for a more sedate pace at Animal Kingdom.
Walt Disney World is located approximately 15 kms SW of Orlando and encompasses Epcot - a futuristic world featuring technological innovations and is the central hub.The property covers 27,258 acres (11,031 ha; 43 sq mi), in which it houses 27 themed resort hotels, four theme parks, two water parks, four golf courses, one camping resort, one residential area and additional recreational and entertainment venues and a speedway.
Not as many transfers as yesterday to get to Animal Kingdom but still a 15 min bus connection was required from the Epcot Hub. Animal Kingdom is further divided up into several geographical areas all showcasing wildlife in fastidiously created closures lavishly landscaped with verdant flora. Highlights were observing the gorillas, in particular one male who picked up a bowl and ambled around with it on his head and the bats, sunning their wings whilst hanging from a rope.
Enjoyed a few themed rides in particular the "Kali River Rapids" which we all got well drenched from riding the rapids in tubular rafts - a great way to cool off in the 31 deg heat.
Left the park at its 8:00pm closing time and returned back for a well earned beer !
