Day 30 Farewell to the Sunshine State - Florida. Both Nikita and myself woke up quite zoned out after yesterday's long but satisfying day. Yesterday's Everglades/Miami tour bus finally got back to Econo Lodge in Orlando at 12:20 am and after repacking our baggage cramming in all our goodies from the 6 days in Florida, we crashed into bed around 1:45 am! Caught the shuttle to the airport at 8:40 am, checked in and took the airport monorail to the remote terminal....

Day 4 Las Vegas A late start today due to a late finish last night. Wandered down the Strip, cruising in and out of several casinos on the way. Had many "time warps" to various cities/countries around the world - Venice, Rome, France as many Casinos were themed. Enjoyed gelato ice creams as it was another hot day - 34 deg C. Collected the Cirque du Soleil show tickets "Love" themed to the Beatles music from the Mirage Casino booked in at 7.00 pm tonight. Wander...

Day 3 Los Angeles > Las Vegas Got up early and headed out on the road at 7am. A few hiccups trying to get on to the connecting freeways heading west to Vegas, at one point the traffic was down to a standstill near San Bernardino put down to a crash between a car and a truck - guess who came off worst ? Detoured off the interstate and did our first section of Route 66 from Victorville to Barstow , approx 26 miles of original paved road. Took lunch in the shad...

Day 2 Los Angeles Had a greats nights sleep so hopefully we should all be recovered from the sleep deprived AKL/LAX flight. Walked around the corner late morning to Alamo where we had the luxury of choosing from around 30 serviced vehicles, so a Chevvy Malibu was the pick of the crop - a sort American "Muscle" car which should suit us nicely for the next 17days, around 3000 miles of travel. Landed in Los Angeles after the long haul from Auckland. Suzanne and myself enjoyed fantastic service in Business Class as we had upgradable tickets. Excellent service - food and drinks just kept coming ! The full lie flat beds were just superb. I managed a couple of hours sleep while Suzanne crashed right out.
