Day 2 Los Angeles
Had a greats nights sleep so hopefully we should all be recovered from the sleep deprived AKL/LAX flight.
Walked around the corner late morning to Alamo where we had the luxury of choosing from around 30 serviced vehicles, so a Chevvy Malibu was the pick of the crop - a sort American "Muscle" car which should suit us nicely for the next 17days, around 3000 miles of travel. Another warm day here in LA - 26degs.
Drove 25 mins west to Malibu, explored the shops then headed down to Santa Monica Pier. Snapped up a few Route 66 souvenirs and then we all had a ride on the historic carousel (built in 1922) Strolled along the pier enjoying all the attractions. Very busy being late Friday afternoon. Bought the obligitary Route 66 tee shirt at the end of the pier. Rumbling stomachs at this stage and we were saved by the "Bell" - Taco Bell our favourite American fast food. 3 scrumptious taco's each were quickly scoffed done then a quick rush back to the car to gather our togs for a dip in the Pacific Ocean at sunset. Set the GPS navigator to route us back to our accommodation - 10mins was the predicted time. Around 50mins later we arrived due to the heavy - sometimes at a standstill interstate traffic. A few Malibu shots before retiring in preparation for an early start tomorrow morning to Las Vegas. Wifi playing up here at Days Inn so hopefully should be able to update the blog in Vegas
