Greetings all
It was fantastic meeting up with Harry and Nola again at the awesome free camp site of Corella Dam which they had found last week. We were camping beside a lake on green grass which is a real treat after the usual red dust. Harry had cut a huge pile of hardwood firewood with his chainsaw so the first night was spent around a blazing campfire catching up on all the latest gossip till late. Some of the neighbours were very friendly and enjoyed pulling up a chair and enjoyed the chat around a nice big fire and Harry and I gave most of them a blast of good old Kiwi humour to wind them up which ended in a night of fun laughs. Next morning after breakfast we all climbed into Harry's Jeep and headed back into Mount Isa for a bit of shopping and after a casual lunch at Harry's old local he took us on a tour of the town where he once worked as a mine worker many years ago. Back at camp it was time to restart the fire and settle in for another happy hour and a BBQ and dish out another attack of words with the neighbours as the night worn on. Very entertaining and someone laughed so much they wet their pants! I better not say who. It was off on a drive again on Sunday enjoying the sights of the area and then exploring a old uranium mine that Harry knew about. And no we did not end up glowing after dark that night but it was very interesting because you are not usually allowed into places like that. The last night was very full on and enjoyable and at about 10pm someone fell into the lake so it was a very wet wallet and phone that needed drying out in the morning! We were able to sample a few red claw lobsters given to us and I wished that I had a net as you can catch dozens of them very easily and there is no limit to catch as they are deemed a pest. Very yummy. Unfortunately Monday was time to move on from this awesome place as Harry and Nola were heading south to the Birdsville races and us north to Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria so after a quick farewell and hug and wishing each other safe travels they turned left and we turned right and it was goodbye.
