Hello everyone,
Its been a while since I've written to you and a lot has happened since then! After Ko Phangan we left Thailand for good and headed down to Malaysia. That in itself was a mission - one that began at 11am on monday and ended at 9pm the following day, and included an 8 hour wait at Surat Thani train station (the biggest dive in the world infested with rats and cockroaches! We then got a rickity night train down to a place in Malaysia called Butterworth - also a dive, where we picked up the bus to Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur was a bit of a breath of fresh air as it is so much more modernised than the other Asian cities we've been too - it even has a Nandos! Yes we did go there. We also went to the Menera Kl - the fourth tallest Broadcasting tower in the world - and the Petronas Towers - the second largest building in the world. We couldnt go all the way up but we went to the 42nd floor skybridge which was still nearly 200m in the air. Next to the Petronas Towers was the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre); a 5 floor shopping complex a bit like a decent Grafton Centre. Saw a couple of films there which were really cheap, around 2 pounds a ticket.
We flew out of Singapore on Friday evening on the way to Melbourne, where we arrived at 5am! We took a taxi to my parents flat on Flinders Street where we were staying along with my sister Alice and her friend Catriona. We got there at 6am to find Alice had waited up for us after their night out. Catriona, feeling a little worse for wear, had not. We went out for a nice meal last night and tonight we are preparing to make a Sunday Roast! We have a big week planned here which includes an AFL game, a bar crawl and a visit to Ramsay Street!
Till next time, take care
Will x
