After a restless night's sleep, mainly thanks to a loud group of drunken Scottish muppets (did nothing to dispel their steretypes, sorry Carly & Al), we arrived at Surat Thani around 7am. We earlier had a message to say that Alan & Carly were in Koh Phangan, so instead of booking a ferry to Koh Somui for a quiet, chilled beach rest, we headed straight to Koh Phangan for what we knew would be a hectic nightlife, even before we met with Alan & Carly. We managed to book into a bungalow right on the beach (30 seconds walk away), this would prove most helpful after a drunken night as we wouldn't have to negotiate the hill filled island. Our stay in Koh Phangan consisted of lots of sunbathing, lots of Chang Beer (1 pound per 650ml bottle) & a fair few buckets (4 pound for a 500ml bottle of spirit, 330ml can of soft drink & a can of Red Bull). The restaurants played films or T.V shows on a big screen throughout the day, so that mostly determined where we would be eating each day. Along the way we met up with a few old friends from the Cambodia tour (the Norwegian & Danish girls) & also Julien & Dani (a couple of French guys that I used to play football with back in Portsmouth). The island gradually got busier & busier in the build up to the Full Moon party. Unfortunately, Alan, Carly, Damon & Seville had already departed (to go home, muhahahaha) so it was left to us & the French guys to drink on their behalf. Our bungalow's restaurant put on a Full Moon dinner, which was an all you can eat buffet (probably a good thing, due to the amount of alcohol about to be devoured). The beach was packed with people & different events such as fire limbo, fire breathing (you got a free drink if you could light a designated target) & a water slide. Needless to say, a recovery day was needed after the party, ready to recharge & continue our journey!!
