We had a very early start this morning!!! Got up at 4:30am in order to catch our bus to Angkor Wat temple for sunrise. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy that morning, so the sunrise wasn't as good as it could have been & the fact that there was scaffolding on parts of it kind of took the magic away, but it was still an experience. We headed back to the hotel for a spot of breakfast at 7:30am, which felt like it should have been midday because we had been up so bloody early!!!
We headed back off on our bus to spend the day looking around 3 of the temples in Angkor city, including one that was used in the Tomb Raider films. We had our own guide to tell us all about the history of the temples, which was good because otherwise I would have just thought it was a big rock :-)
We watched the sunset at a temple on the top of a mountain, which was beautiful (the sunset, not the mountain) & we had a workout at the same time because it was a very steep hill to get there & to get to the top of the temple was like rock climbing...good job I have insurance!
For dinner we went to Pub Street. Now i'm pretty certain that the name gives it away, but just in case anyone is feeling a bit slow, this is a street filled to the brim with pubs.....who would have thought it??? After dinner we spotted a pub doing 50 cent beer & 2 for 1 cocktails....needless to say this is where we spent the night until we were kicked out (because it was closing, nothing sinister). Upon leaving the pub, we came across a fish doctor, so dipped our feet in for half an hour for them to be nibbled by some very hungry fish (either that or we had really manky feet). We then found another pub/club, played some pool, had more beers & finally stumbled home at 4:30am after Joel had had a TC on the way home. (ask around if you don't know what a TC is ;-))
