7th September
We arrived in Venice yesterday after a short drive from Treviso. After arriving in Milan at 7pm the night before it was a 31/2hr drive to Treviso. Thank God Basil, the GPS finally kicked in as I'm sure we wouldn't have got there with out him. After a few stops at the Autogrill we got in at around 11.30.
We were delighted in Paris, amazed in Prague and words can't describe Venice. This little fish shaped island is Magnificent. The pictures don't do it justice. I am very happy to be back in Italy as I really love the people and their ways. My Italian has come in handy a few times.
Today we climbed the clock tower in San Marco Square. The view from the top was great. This afternoon we went on aery interesting guided tour, yes complete with a lady with a red ribbon atop a stick, much to Alex's disgust.I found the info very interesting anyway and she took us to little out of the way places. I would have been completly lost. The streets here called calles are very confusing. It's like a maze. Very hardno impossible to find your way around. Luckily there are arrows at most intersections pointing to either San Marco or The Rialto market.
After the guided walk was our Gondola ride. I know that it's very corny but it was very very cool. The ride took us on both the Grand Canal as well as some little side waterways. We were the only three people in our Gondola. Very cool.
Alex is in love with the gelato and icecreams. Off for another night wander to find one now.
