We arrived in Jaipur to be greeted by the monsoon rain again, so the first day we made good use of the free board games available in the cafe. Simon's foot infection was also getting unbarable and was struggling to walk as it resembled a balloon. We went sight seeing and thought we could walk to them all but then, while in the centre of the city, it chucked it down again. We we're 'rescued' by an over friendly tuk tuk driver who agreed to take us to see the 'Water palace', elephants and a Mouang Village for a redicuously cheap price. Alarm bells should have rang, but it was raining and he was too friendly. The elephants he showed us were tied up in the back of this residential area which was a bit strange. When we got to the Mouang village, we soon realised that this is where he was wanting to take us, mainly because he got comission form all the handicraft shops. We went into the cloth printers, which was good to see how it was done, then refused to go to any more. Friendly man became miserable man, and made up a 'family emergency' that meant he could only drop us odd in the town centre again, not at our hotel! After much protesting from us both, he ended up flagging down this poor guy that cycled us back to our hotel, along flooded roads and torrential rain. He ended up getting more money that the tuk tuk driver because we just felt so bad for him!
We also went clubbing in Jaipur which was so much fun. Unfortunately we wern;t alloed to take our cameras in so we dont have any photos. Kirsty had a camera man following her around all night, which se thought worked for the club, but after asking Raj, he turned out to be the papparazzi! Aparently we would be featuring on the front cover of the Jaipur times! Goos times in Jaipur, but because it was on the 'Golden triangle', the locals were very aware of tourists and how they could rip you off. Lesson learnt for us both though.
