Poultry farm at Grasstree Road. Some of the 200 poultry we looked after for about 2 weeks. The feed and water in 11 pens had to be checked twice a day. Most pens had reticulated water as the owner is a plumber. Some of the poultry were show birds and breeders. The owners purchased day old chicks to be raised up for sale, this paid for the upkeep of the show birds. A lot of properties in Alice have chooks for eggs, these being purchased from the farm we looked after. There were also a gander and three geese with ten goslings wandering around the property, along with some ducks. There were also ducks in a pen. With so many hens laying, there were eggs to be collected daily, but not from the show birds pens. One of the chooks was laying a green/blue egg. By the time we left we had cooked eggs in a variety of ways and were getting a bit sick of eggs.
