19/11/2009 - We had to get up at 5:45am to get to the oz experience office in sydney to get the bus up to surf camp. On the map we thought it would be a 2 hour journey or something but when we met the driver he told us we wouldnt actually be getting there until at 5pm! When we got to the office we met a bloke that we started chatting to then more people started to arrive as the office opened. We met a couple from Red Hill called Alex and Kim. The bus drivers name was Squirtle. After we set off the first stop was at McDonalds for some breakfast. A few hours after we stopped for lunch and had crocodile pie!! We also stopped at a field and saw some wild kangaroo's, our first ones in oz. We finally made it to surf camp and some weird guy showed us around the camp, he tried to be funny but actually sounded special needs. After we had a walk down to the beach where we would be surfing and it looked really nice. We were sharing a dorm with Alex and Kim, they were nice. We had some dinner and drinks then went to bed ready for the surf in the morning.
20/11/2009 - Day 2
We had to get up for breakfast at 8 and pack up and be ready to surf by 9. We had a briefing about surfing and safety then got our boards and wetsuits and headed down to the beach. We got to the beach and had to learn how to pop up on the board whilst we were on the sand, it seemed pretty easy there! We then had a group photo taken and jumped into the sea to give it a try. We had about 2 hours surfing and he said we would all be standing up by the end. It took a bit of practise but tom managed to stand up quite a few times, i was trying my hardest but getting know where, i could only get to my knees. The teahcer came over and helped and right at the end of the lesson i finally managed to stand up a few times. Surfing was really fun we had a wicked time. After lunch we got back on the coach and headed to Byron Bay.
