We are Sailing
We arrived at the marina at 1.00. It was a bit sad to leave our unit, as it was very comfortable and Egor our landlord had done a great job looking after us. Whilst it all seems well on the face of it, they are doing it very tough in Croatia. Tourism is their only industry in Split, and it is seasonal. The locals go out of their way to look after you. Egor told me Croatia has a bigger debt problem than Greece and the politicians seem very corrupt. He is concerned for the future of his country. We just don't know how lucky we are in Australia.
The boat wasn't ready yet, so we had a nice meal at the Marina restaurant until were allowed to put our luggage on the boat. Eventually it became available and we made our move. Whilst the boys loaded the boat, the girls stocked up on the food to take. However the boat still needs to be surveyed before we leave, and that wasn't finalised to about 4.00 pm.
Finally we are on our way. Brian did an excellent job of getting it out of the marina. Our yacht is 51 feet long, and has a very wide beam. It has 5 bedrooms and toilets etc. Great for the amount of people we have on board.
Our destination was only an hour and 15 minutes away, in a little bay on Brac. It was great to be back out on the ocean again, it is a different world. So peaceful and away from the stressful and complicated lives we all tend to lead.
We arrived at our destination on time, and lucky for us there was only a few boats moored in this small picturesque bay.
Brian had a totally new crew this year so we didn't really know how mooring the boat was going to go. As there was no jetty to moor to, the rope for the boat had to be swum across to the shore. Cheryl volunteered to do this, and did a great job even managing to swim with her sunnies on. She loves being a glamour girl. I managed to get the anchor down without tearing the front of the boat off. (Brian had given me a relatively complicated induction before we left Split. This is the up button, this is the down button).
We were all very proud of ourselves, and soon were all swimming. We all managed to get in the water without making any statements.......well most of us. Pete is one of those people that likes to be noticed. He made an entry that an Olympic Diving Champ would kill for. From the top step he managed a triple **** thump, with a backward belly flop. This manoeuvre had a 2.5 degree of difficulty. Amazing, and I am sure has taken him years to perfect, It is little wonder he scored a perfect 10 and a rousing cheer from the rest of the crew.
About an hour after we arrived, the Thompsons arrived, and they too took to the water. You could easily spot the Aussies swimming, as they were the only ones with bathers on.
It has been a great day and we are looking forward to our next stop at Palmizarna, or Parmigiana as Dianne would say. She managed to confuse some poor lady back at the Marina when the lady asked her where she was going!

Lisa Pienaar Bon voyage jolly sailors!
Merv Great blog Glenn - keep up the good work which we are really enjoying. Pete is famous for his athletism and we hope he is Ok. This feat can only be compared to Brians deliberate backflip on the gangplank with a very gracious and elegant water entry - all whilst retaining his beer. Have a great trip crew - you are all very lucky. Cheers Merv
Rhonda Never mind Croatia's corrupt pollies. You must have missed the news about Bronnie Bishop and her travel mates.
Rhonda Come to think of it, was that her on that super yacht
