The girls learnt a new card game this morning from a fellow traveller and a bunch of kids. People on the road so friendly.
We are headed to Warranbool or stopping elsewhere If a place takes our fancy.
Stopped in Port MacDonnell the lobster capital they tell us.
The price of lobster here much better $55 kilo cooked, couldn't resist our last fresh lobster.
Stopped for photo's crossing the border into Vic.
The road to Nelson gave us a look at the ocean on our right and lots of diary farms Proudly displaying their Devondale or Diary Farmers milk signs.
Nelson gave way to the Glenelg River and national park. The river in town was dotted with shacks with their own decks on the river, the alternative to beach shacks very cute.
We took a trip onto the national park to explore a camp site on the river.
Very tranquil the river water cool and the bush very green.
Further down the road on route to Portland were masses of Pine Forrests one section where the pines met the sea particularly scenic.
Detoured from the main road and went into Cape Bridgewater. A ski lake of fresh water and a scenic coastline drew us in.
More wind farms. Went through the town and went to see the blow holes (not blowing today) and the petrified Forrest, the limestone eroding the same way as in the caves with rain water and acid, with the added wind and salt due to the harsh weather conditions.
Stopped at Portland for supplies and petrol.
A huge port town. The city centre surprised me by having a bakers delight open at 530 on Sunday afternoon.
The port exports wood chips, sand minerals and live exports (lobsters).
Due to the lateness of the afternoon
we stopped at Fitzroy River (589 in camps 5)
What a nice surprise to be on the river with black swans and ducks on dusk.
Sunset over the water and a camp fire.
