Again we awoke to a stunning morning and hoped it would hold out for our day on Maria Island. We had to be at the dock by 9 and we are 90kms away and on the other side of Hobart and it was a Friday morning so being in the usual Saunders mode we left at 7 on the dot. Hmmm we were thru the middle of Hobart and on crossing the river by 7:15, so much for peak hour in this state. We awoke at Strathgordon to torrential rain and erchhy grey skies so different to yesterday when the temp got to 28 and I was sunburnt, oh well it has been good whilst it lasted. Left our cabin and drove for about 2 hours to Hamilton for a disgusting coffee, why can't people get it right when trying to run a business in a small really tiny village and we try to spend our tourist dollar with them and they serve garbage. Yesterday did a drive to the dams, Serpentine, Gordon and Franklin, not far from here but spent a lovely couple of hours exploring, truly beautiful. The Gordon is down as it runs into the Franklin but still majestic scenery in the wilderness out here. Surely they have not explored every spot in these hundreds of kilometres of mountains. Horrible evening and feel like garbage today but thankfully left our abode (after I made him cook me a lovely breakfast) and drove towards our next bit of adventure in gorgeous weather. We awoke to a raining morning and just thanked Mother Nature for the perfect previous day for our day on Macquarie Harbour. We packed up and did an unusual 8:30 departure as we wanted to do into the village to get fresh bread and then some shopping prior to leaving Strahan.
