WHERE VIV'S AT...
OK, never judge a book by its cover. Bunbury may not have been a picture postcard setting (and I've seen so many here) and on my last posting I was bored with waiting to check in my hostel so I was a bit putout, but... Bunbury gave me one of the coolest hostels I've stayed in, it provided the best fish meal I've ever had, it had some of the friendliest locals I've met AND it gave me dolphins - 3 of them. Bunbury you are a little star.
Ok, now I'm in Margaret River and Ralph and I have a passenger in the form of Sarah (met her in Bunbury) and we're staying at another really cool place (more like a hotel than a hostel) about 10Ks from the town centre but we're on the beach and the hostel is full of surfers (yummy).
Got here on Tuesday after stopping at Bussellton to play with flies (I have never seen so many in one place my life) and walk the 2k jetty, then we drove to here. First we went into Margaret River town which is very pretty, and hit the supermarket/bottle shop and I booked my wine tour for Thursday (Wine of Dudes - should be fun).
We got to the hostel and immediately met our room mate Jenette (great girl and good fun) at the hostel and for all 3 of our the next stop was the beach to check out the 'waves' but I was not there long as got a call and instructed to make my way back to Margaret River Town to meet Abbo Dan and Caroline (yes they are here too via campervan). OK so I go into town to meet them and they've been on their wine tour already that day and they are a little bit drunk and it's 6.30PM and then 7.30AM I get back to my hostel (don't ask) and within 2 hours I have to meet Caz and Abbo again as the 3 of us are booked on a boat tour with lunch down the river which Caz has arranged for us. Well as you can guess I'm tired and hungover but I think, hey boat tour, I can just relax on the boat and enjoy a nice lunch. How wrong was I - boat meant canoe, lunch meant bushtucker - believe me the hangover went very very quickly.
And today I'm off on my wine and chocolate tour and plan to have a very civilised and educational day (unlike Swan Valley Lindsay).
