Free sightseeing in not-so-sunny Sydney
Today we decided we were going to spend less than $5! We left Angie at the apartment, as she's been to Sydney before, and caught the train to Circular Quay. Once there we walked past the Opera Quays to the Opera House, where there was a good view of the Harbour Bridge, although it was pouring with rain and so slightly ruined! We attempted to walk around the outside of the Opera House, but got soaked and so went to look in the actual building, It was quite uninteresting inside, and we were surprised to see that the sails are cream and not white!
We then went to the Museum of Contemporary Art, where we saw two exhibitions; one of modern art and one of aboriginal art. After, we had a walk around an area called 'The Rocks' - we saw Sussanah Place, which is a row of houses dating back to the 1840s, Observatory Park, which had views of the bridge, and Customs House. Sydney seems to have a nice mix of beautiful new buildings and old and historic places. We arrived back at our room at about 7pm, and made a massive batch of amazing macaroni cheese!
