DAY 77 - 78: 29th - 30th September: Puno and Lake Titicaca, Peru
We woke up early again to head to lake Titicaca. To get to the harbor we went on rickshaws - and I even got to drive one it was really cool. Check the video and pictures out. We arrived at the harbor and boarded a boat that took us to the first island visit of the day called Aqnpoi, were we went for a walk and saw some original handmade weaving. We had lunch at the top of the island. That afternoon we went to another island called Taquile island; this where we were going to stay the night with a local family. When we arrived we were greeted by a marching band (see video). We then had a football game against the locals.
We were then introduced to our family for the evening. My family consisted of 6 people the mother called Isabelle. They had four children - 3 girls and 1 boy. After we met them they dressed us up in their traditional clothing, then they taught us a dance - it was very funny although kind of embarrassing looking back at the photos. That evening we had dinner with the family and played cards with the children.
The next day we woke up had breakfast with the family said our goodbyes and headed to the famous floating islands on Lake Titicaca. They were amazing every 5 months they have to make a new island and every two weeks they have to relay reeds to keep their houses afloat.
That afternoon we spent in Puno looking around the town. That evening we went to the famous Chifa restaurant (a mixture of Chinese and Peruivan food) and then we went out for a few drinks.
