DAY 92 - 93: 14th October - 15th October: Nazca, Peru

Nazca is the name of a system of valleys on the southern coast of Peru, and the name of the region's largest existing town in the Nazca Province. It is also the name applied to the Nazca culture that flourished in the area between 300 BC and AD 800. They were responsible for the Nazca Lines and the ceremonial city of Cahuachi; they also constructed an impressive system of underground aqueducts named Puquios, that still function today.

We arrived in Nazca at 6am and then got a bus to the hotel, which is situated nowhere near the town. I spent the morning sitting around the pool in the sun. Its nice here now as we are only 500ms above sea level so its nice and warm during the day and night. Very nice change.

That afternoon we went on a tour around an inca cemetery to see mummys and lots of bones it was a bit odd but culturally satisfying after that we went to a potty museum in which only one family in Nazca reconstruct the pottery that is found from the Incas. They also use the same method as the Inca - it was pretty impressive.

I am getting slightly sad as I only have 3 days left in South America but I am looking forward to New York and then seeing some of the family in Iceland for Georges Birthday bash.

That evening I had dinner at a local roast chicken place, tomorrow we are off to Pisco our last stop over before I get to Lima.
