DAY 79 - 80: 1st October - 2nd October : Cusco, Peru
We left Puno around 7:30 to start our travels to Cusco. Cusco is main tourist centre as it is where people get the train to the Inca Trail. Cusco was the site of the historic capital of the Inca Empire and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO. It is a major tourist destination and receives almost 2 million visitors a year. It is designated as the Historical Capital of Peru by the Constitution of Peru. Cusco is elevated 3380m above sea level. Cusco is a beautiful place full of traditional character, whilst remaining trendy. Again like most cities there is a massive cathedral. The main attraction to us seemed to be McDonalds! Lol! Cusco is a beautiful city, we climbed up to a view point that looked over the city it was amazing. We then went to a traditional restaurant and after I headed out to check out the night life of Cusco - which turned out to be pretty pants. Unfortunately, I only had this afternoon and another afternoon in Cusco.
