Thursday 13th September Day Eleven / South Island Queenstown, our final destination in New Zealand! We really like it here but the campsite was not so good. The bays are all on top of each other, totally crammed in. Went for a stroll into town and ended up at a casino! We actually won! Because we won the casino offered to drive us back to our campsite. Wednesday 12th September Day Ten / South Island Franz Josef has so many different activities to do we were spoilt for choice; we opted for a heli tour with a snow landing on the glacier! It was fab; the snow was so deep we could hardly walk and the views were spectacular. After that we decided to head to Wanaka which was about another 4 hours. Tuesday 11th September Day Nine / South Island Whale watching or should I say Whale tail watching! Was good, although I did get a wee bit sea sick! We also saw some dolphins which was a great bonus. Kaikoura to Franz Josef we did it! Went across Lewis pass and it took about 7 1/2 hours, with a few breaks. The roads were really winding with shear drops. Arrived at our campsite about 7 pm. Sunday 9th September Day Seven North Island Drove from Napier to Wellington - long drive. We decided to travel to the South Island today and not stay in Wellington as planned, the advantage of having a camper. Wellington was really cool, a lot better than Auckland, but its still just another city so we left to get the Ferry to the South. Didn't arrive till late stayed at a campsite just down the road from the ferry which was handy.

Monday 10th September Day Eight / South Island Drove from Picton to Kaikoura, we were planning to go whale watching, but not as easy as that for us! We arrived to find our trip had been cancelled!! So we have booked to go tomorrow morning, fingers crossed the whales come back! Kaikoura is a small town and the coast is amazing, lots of Seals and black sand.
