Spent a couple of nights at Yulara at Ayers Rock Resort. We went on a guided walk at the bottom of Uluru and learnt lots about why this site is so important to the Aborigines and what they used to do here. The guide also showed us heaps of bush food and other plants that the Aborigines used.

Unfortunately we weren't able to climb Uluru as it was closed due to wind up till about 2pm and by then it was way to hot. They are more strict with opening the rock than they were many years ago. They now close it when it reaches 36 degrees at the airport and when the wind is blowing too much. I figure this is a subtle way of decreasing the people who climb it!

At sunset we went out with hoards of other people to see the sunset change the colours of Uluru.

We went out to Kata Tjuta which is also known as The Olgas although only one of the rocks is Mount Olga. We walked up through Walpa Gorge all the way to the end. These rocks are a conglomerate mix of stone even though they look very similar to Uluru.

It is getting warmer so Gracie decided she would ike to go for a swim in the pool. It was freezing and she came out blue!
