On the way to Kings Canyon, we stopped at a lookout to see Mount Connor. This mountain is often mistaken for Uluru on the way into Yulara. Across the road, we climbed a short hill of red sand to look out over Lake Amadeus which is a really big salt lake.

We got to Kings Canyon Resort mid afternoon as we stopped at Kings Creek Station to go on a helicopter ride over Kings Canyon. Ness got to sit in the front and as we had headphones and microphones, for the first 5 minutes all we heard from Gracie was "we're up Daddy, we're up!" Not sure how much value she got out of the view but it was a great flight and a bit of a history lesson as the pilot told us about the land around the Canyon.

When we checked into the caravan park for two nights and we had site 65, apparently the best site according to the girl at the desk. We said to each other - "yeah right' but we could not have asked for a better position. It was right in front of the canyon and we had no one in front of us to spoil the view.

We walked the Kings Canyon Rim Walk in the morning. This is a 5.5km return walk with some steep sections at the start. Gracie did all of the walk and was really interested in the flowers growing out of the rocks here and there. She is starting to get into taking photos of flowers and rocks and uses our camera as well as her own little one.

On the way out of Kings Canyon we did a short walk to Kathleen Springs. We had seen this area from the helicopter viewing the old stockyards and watering hole. The remains of the old stock yards are still there that were used up until the 1960s. The watering hole is lovely but people are not able to swim there. The Aboriginal people believe that the Rainbow Serpent lives in this waterhole.
