Today we are off shopping in the Shanghai Fake Markets. First stop Nanjing Road where I was after some Louis Vuitton bags; I had done my research beforehand so knew that LV and Gucci fakes were illegal in Shanghai. After finding a handbag shop I whispered to the girl I was after LV she quickly grabbed Nick and I and pushed us into the back of the shop. She then did a quick scan outside to make sure we hadn't been followed and locked the doors. Once all was secure we were interrogated for 5 minutes to ascertain we were genuine tourists, we must have passed as she then took us into the secret room at the back of the shop (a giant wardrobe full of LV and Gucci!) I picked the stuff I wanted and then the bargaining began, I had set myself a price for a bag but after 15 minutes of haggling I got bored and ended up paying £1.50 more than I wanted but I still had a bargain I think. I also wanted some Uggs and the girl in the shop had a sister who could get them for me (strange I thought as people are only allowed 1 child each in China, but I let it pass). 10 minutes after it would appear that she also had another sister who sold watches and finally a third sister selling belts and sunglasses (mmmmmm????) Managed to get everything I wanted within 1 1/2 hours including a new suitcase to put all the stuff in so we had the rest of the day free for sightseeing.
