We're enjoying our road trip on Marvin (the name of our truck) - 'Johnny Cash' had to go to the garage for a new dif... Travelling through Namibia has been fun. A lot of the roads are unmade so travel times are long and very dusty - It's a choice between fresh air with dust or stuffy truck but no dust - generally 5-9 hours a day, with comfort stops every 2-3 hours. Lunch is made on the truck- cheese, meat, bread & salad, and we eat at picnic spots. Accommodation has been better than expected, but we've been warned that standards are likely to drop the further east we go. We've seen, & climbed, some huge red sand dunes and seen 800 year old dead trees stood on flat salt pans. Fantastic scenery that photos cannot capture. Craig had fun on a quad bike ride across the dunes, spotting the creatures that live in such a harsh environment including a white dancing spider _(highly venemous), web footed gecko and desert chameleons. We visited Fish River canyon, the worlds 2nd largest canyon. We had a great couple of days in Etosha National Park spotting wildlife. We saw herds of springbok, zebra, oryx, wildebeest, giraffes as well as several jackals and even a group of them feeding on a carcass, made one of our group feel queesy. We were entertained by a family of elephants with a couple of babies, and a couple of rhinos. The game drives were in our truck and we bundle from one side to the other as wildlife is spotted. The rock and roll must entertain other tourists and the animals. On a night drive we spotted a hyena and a couple of eagle owls as well as a cape fox. We were disappointed not to see any lions, until we left our lodge in the morning heading for the gate, when we watched a lioness come to a water hole for a drink after her breakfast - she had blood around her face and front paws, from her breakfast! An awesome sight. At one of our camps we were serenaded after dinner by a group of teenage boys from a local high school who sang local and gospel songs- they sang amazing harmonies (Namibia's Got Talent, here we come!). It seems a lot of the population have beautiful voices as the next day we were similarly entertained by a group of guides who sang whilst they waited for more tourists to arrive. We've had lots of early (5am!!) starts but are thankful that we're not camping and just have to pack our bag in the morning rather than pack up a tent! The group we're with are nice and we're having a fun time. We've had a great time in Namibia, next stop Botswana...

Banana Wow! Sounds fantastic, sorry about cold nights though. When I visited Swakopmund it was from Walvis Bay! You have certainly seen some fantastic wild life. Enjoy Botswana. We all missing you! Lol XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Stefan & Naski Glad Marvin is looking after you! My thirst for a road trip to Namibia is really wetted now. I have only been to the southern edge, but have now decided that we must go sometime soon. BTW - Found your glasses in the glove box of the 'Mothership'. Will send them to UK when you get back. Enjoy! XXX
