An early start today.....partly due to the thunderstorm (which Rach didn't hear), partly due to the lone mosquito (which Rach didn't hear) and partly due to Baz complaining about the mosquito (which Rach did hear).....:)
Not the best start.....well a good breakfast and the room packing went ok......but trying to get some money out did not......3 banks later the thoughts of sitting in a cardboard box were quashed when funds finally arrived....off to the station and get the journey to Fes started.....after getting evicted from both cafes for having no money (hopefully not our smell)....we sat and waited for out chariot......the 1012 to Fes arrived and we started our journey....Baz was lucky enough to sit next to a man who insisted on talking to him in French whilst Rach slept....
Having arrived and started the walk to the hopeful accommodation the heavens opened up long enough to soak us and make us put our waterproofs on......and then to turn into a warm and clammy day....as we entered the medina we encountered our first tout....after trying politeness and failing we resorted to what we had learnt from the protesters during the 2 days of rioting in Rabat.....and ran away......
Many hostels later it was looking like we would get nothing for our budget when another tout got us somewhere.....not before taking us to the seediest place I have been to.....haggling started and we struck a good deal that includes breakfast....I hope he knows this boy can eat!!! And he charged us less than he said....winner for us....
A jaunt around the area followed with us getting fully accustomed to the locals and our surroundings.....easy! We finally succumb to sitting down for a meal.....a lovely 'Harisa' but with the bready carbs that we have become dependant upon.....
A strange day......jury's out on Fes.....first real taste of touts and the negative side of Morocco.....not deterred......a good sleep (hopefully) and our first chance to try our showertoilet still to come......
