Our washing has dried overnight...novelty and perks of the desert! After some confusion at Chez Ali in Zagora over how exactly we were getting to the last town in Morocco before the Sahara we got in our hire car and drove almost another 100km! And not the easiest road to drive! An hour and a half later we were flagged down by a man in Berber man in a turban...Rashid; our guide and host for the next 24 hours. A quick drive to the last town before Sahara (very small and isolated and filled with suicidal hustlers who I almost ran over).
We returned to our walled oasis to wait a few hours and have some lunch....chatting with Rashid whilst he prepared a wonderful salad and tagine gave us an insight to the Bedouin lifestyle....with the best food we had eaten behind us it was time to ride our dromedra into the desert and get a thorough sandblasting on the way.....
Our journey into the desert seemed more of a trip to endure than enjoy as it was an almost brown out....not much scenery seen.......on arrival at the camp we were shown our tent and told not to stray too far.....we were going nowhere.....a few card games later and we were invited for tea.....
After some nice chats and meeting the other hardy travellers (albeit well dressed for a camel ride) we had another meal of tagine and harira......delicious!!!
The wind finally died down and we went out to look at the stars.....beautiful and very cold.....back into the tent for some local singing.....very cool but a little uncomfortable.....all sung out we went to bed ready for our very early start to watch a sunrise....
