After breakfast we caught the train down to Miyajimaguchi station and then boarded the ferry across to Miyajima Island.
After a short ferry ride we arrived on the island to be welcomed by the dozens of dear scavenging for food, even eating the information people had received from the tourist office. We decided to walk around the towards the Torii stopping along the way for a snack which we shared with the deer.
Arrived at the Torii which was about 50 metres out in the water and the nearby Hsukushima-jinja Temple. We had lunch then decided to walk around to the cable car up to the top of Mount Misen. Walked past Taho-to Pagoda and a number of waterfalls and peaceful forested areas before cramming into a cable car on our way to the top of the mountain.
Great views over the "inland sea" and its islands on the way up to the mountain. On arrival at the summit there were signs everywhere warning you about monkeys and to be careful of them stealing your bags. As usual, anywhere where monkeys are supposed to be we see none!
Took some photos from the top of the mountain and then took the cable car back down to the bottom and walked back to the ferry terminal to head back to Hiroshima.
