Arrived in Hiroshima on Shinkansen and caught a taxi from the train station to our hotel, the ANA Hotel.
Checked into our room and dropped off our bags before heading out to see the sights of Hiroshima. Took a tram down to the A-Bomb dome and walked around what is left of the building after the atomic bomb blast.
We then walked across the river to the Peace Park and walked through the park past the peace bell, a burial mound for cremated victims of the blast, Korean Victims Memorial, the Children's Monument covered with paper cranes and on to the Flame of Peace, Cenotaph and Fountain of Peace. You could look over the flam, through the cenotaph and back up to the A-Bomb Dome as they were all in alignment. The last stop at the park was the museum detailing the blast and its victims. The musuem was interesting but was certainly biased in favour of Japanese victimhood.
Had a rest back at the hotel then went out for dinner then walking on to Hiroshima Castle which was restored after the bomb blast. Nearby was an old eucalypt treee that had survived the blast. On the way back to the hotel we walked past the Gokoku Shrine.
Returned to the hotel for rest and sleep.
